"You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how."-Rhett Butler

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

Well it's that time of year again...Valentine's Day!!  I know that many pessimists frown upon this day, however I LOVE IT!!!!

Today's blog will be about LOVE....how very Carrie Bradshaw of me.

I think the colors, candy, cards, flowers and sparkle make this day enchanting.  Who wouldn't think a day totally devoted to LOVE would be anything but fantastic?

Ever since I was a little girl I have been a big fan of V-Day.  I remember being so excited to make my "Valentine box" at school to store all of my cards from fellow classmates.  The anticipation of what type of Ninja Turtle valentine my 3rd grade crush, Brian, would give me nearly made me faint.

As an adult, I think Valentine's Day has nothing to do with the fact that you HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE in your life.  I think if you believe in love then you should enjoy this holiday.

I don't feel like this is a day for singles to feel bad about themselves. There is no such thing as "Single Awareness Day".  Love yourself and make a glass of wine your Valentine!

"You can take it all back to the kitchen; I won't eat a bite."-Scarlett O'Hara

BEING SICK STINKS....ESPECIALLY WITH A BLIZZARD OUTSIDE

I know, I know it's been quite some time since I've blogged and I feel awful about that.  New boss, new job position and life in general have tied things up lately but I'm back!

After all of this chaos, the BLIZZARD of 2011 just hit! A stomach virus was the cherry on top of this wonderful week.  Needless to say, I have been trapped inside with snow drifts as tall as munchkins outside my door.

I have watched more Netflix, reality tv and weather coverage to last me a lifetime.  You never know how board you can actually be until you can't leave and are forced to stay inside.

As soon as my sickness subsided, I decided to be productive. I cleaned, organized and dusted my entire loft and then did laundry for an entire day. As soon as I washed and cleaned everything in sight...I made my way to the couch and let the laziness set in.

This consisted of countless calories entering my mouth, napping around 3 times a day, catching up on two seasons of Dexter and online shopping like an addict.

At first I thought "wow this must be the life" but after the fourth day I'm starting go a bit stir crazy.  The fact that I am stuck and can't drive my car an inch, makes it a little unbearable.  I need human interaction!!

How people can "love" snow just boggles my mind! It's 3 degrees outside and you can't do anything in this mess.  It makes driving impossible while causing wrecks, melts and then turns to sludge and then freezes again. I don't get the excitement or fascination with this.  Guess I'm just a summertime pool girl.

Hopefully this ends soon and my hermit ways will be over.

"I can shoot straight, if I don't have to shoot too far."-Scarlett O'Hara

I would like to introduce all of you to my new love....
This little piece of heaven is my new obsession.  It's the Keurig Mini and it's the queen of coffee makers!!

Since using my Target gift cards from Christmas on this little number, I have been making the most delectable cups of joe.  The most darling little cups (commonly referred to as K-cups) fit in this coffee maker (making no mess) and in two minutes you will believe in miracles.

This and Netflix seem to be taking over my life lately.  Why can't it be water and the elliptical?!!!!  I find myself at work counting down the hours until I get home and search through the menu for my next movie or tv show series. This is of course after I've made either a latte or tea in my favorite Kappa Kappa Gamma mug.   With these fun things in the house how can one get motivated to be productive?

The Keurig would have probably made Mammy's life a lot easier as she brought Scarlett a cup of mocha while she lay on her chase lounge watching an old Judy Garland movie on Netflix.  What a scene.

Maybe my obsession on these two things isn't so bad after all.  Could be worse....I could be addicted to crack and video games.

"It ain't fittin'... it ain't fittin'. It jes' ain't fittin'... It ain't fittin'."--Mammy

Doesn't the "vintage dog" picture above look just like my little Lola?
MUST LOVE DOGS

I don't have anything specific to write about today so I will just share with you some of my favorite pictures of my favorite thing besides diamonds.....dogs.

I have been an avid dog lover all of my life.  Throughout my childhood, my family had many dogs. Tramp(Cocker Spaniel), Holly (Akita), Scout and Ellie Kate(Shiba Inu) and now I have Lola (Maltipoo).

Dogs are the one thing that can make you smile no matter what. They are ALWAYS there for you and never care what you look like(even though Lola gives me a weird look every now and then).  They are loyal and are constantly waiting to shower you with affection.

I think at sometime in everyone's life at some time or another, everyone should own a dog.

They are also featured in all high fashion magazines and are in or on the arms of many celebrities.  Even Marilyn Monroe seemed to be in love.

Like I said this post really doesn't have much substance or meaning but sometimes it's nice to share pictures that just make you smile.  And if you have a dog friend, I'm sure you get enough smiling every day.

Rhett Butler: "Did you ever think of marrying just for fun?" Scarlett O'Hara: "Marriage, fun? Fiddle-dee-dee. Fun for men you mean."

THE NEXT BACHELOR

Well girls it's that time once again.....BACHELOR TIME!!!
I can totally see Rhett Butlet on this show.

"I've spent the last three years in therapy." This was the first sentence out of Bachelor (for the second time) Brad Womack's mouth. Hmmmm....girls is this a huge red flag right off the bat?

Even though he is a dreamboat and I totally dig is Texas accent, I'm not sure what I think about repeat offenders on the show.  I mean what have you been doing for the past three years (besides therapy).  Was there not ONE girl in Austin that would hold your hand and could possibly want to be on E! The Bachelor: Where Are They Now? I find this hard to believe.

I don't know why I put myself through this season after season. Guess I love crazy girls, cheesy lines, staged dates and Chris Harrison in general.

25 girls dating one man doesn't make this crew look so bad after all.

KIDDING!!!!!!

I will once again watch this season (with wine and Oreos in hand) until the end and talk about it with my friend, Erin, at work in the morning because the drama makes us feel much more sane.  This show does create immediate and long dinner conversations with my friends so I am grateful for that.  Plus, my boyfriend watches these girls and admits that he has it good and that I'm really not that crazy after all.

"Why does a girl have to be so silly to catch a husband?"-Scarlett O'Hara

I'm sure many things made Scarlett smile: new gown and bonnet, men throwing themselves at her, making Rhett jealous, Tara, and of course knowing she was the prettiest woman in Georgia.

Today I'm in an exceptionally good mood and so I have decided to blog and share with you things that make me happy!

Of course when I think of happy this is the first little face I think of. Sweet little Lola girl always makes my days brighter.
The following are other things you can do or give me to get on my good side and make me smile :) As Peter Pan would say...these are my "happy thoughts:".

  • coffee(preferably Starbucks, grande skinny vanilla latte)
  • Broadway musicals
  • bubble baths(and a glass of wine)
  • Relax reisling
  • Oklahoma State Cowboy football games (I'm a tailgater)
  • wearing new clothes
  • extended weekends
  • fall
  • reading
  • celeb gossip magazines or websites
  • my iPhone
  • watching movies in my pajamas
  • having my make-up done
  • driving in NO traffic
  • vacations
  • dinner with my family
  • going to eat at new restaurants
  • DANCING
  • walking in to a clean house
  • holidays
  • jeans day at work
  • blogging
  • ice tea with Splenda
  • editing pictures
I'm sure there are many more but this is all that I could think of at the moment.  I hope this day makes for a happy weekend and a happy 2011.

"Sir, you are no gentleman."-Scarlett O'Hara "And you miss are no lady"-Rhett Butler

MANNERS...

Today I would like to discuss manners and how many of them are nearly extinct in today's society.  In Scarlett's day, ladies and gentlemen in the South would never have dared to not use their manners.  I notice in my every day life many people who need to practice these fashions.

Here are just a few I have encountered so far today.....

1)When you are getting on an elevator...please WAIT until the people on are off.  So annoying and even more annoying when you are at the back and get stuck because someone is in SUCH A HURRY to get on.

2)Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing.  I know you don't like to be sick but neither do I. Please keep your germs to yourself and quit spreading it like the plague.

3)Don't wear clothes that you and I both know don't fit you. Ok maybe this isn't a bad practice of "manners" but it bothers me and I'm on a roll. Plus it's in extremely bad taste and the cleaners can only shrink your clothes so many times before people stop believing you.  It's gross and makes people like me stare with a look of disgust on my face.

4)When you bump into someone please say "sorry" or "excuse me".  Don't just plow someone over and act like you didn't see or feel their poor little body and you practically knock them down as if you were in a stampede.  It's rude.

5)If I'm in the bathroom stall next to you PLEASE don't try to carry on a conversation with me.  I'm not in there to talk and if we are friends you can visit with me after we leave the current location or you can text me.

These are just a few things that really make me want to scream.  Manners are very important. They build character, poise and make our parents look good.  Practice them daily and you could land all sorts of things...a rich boyfriend, a job and even socially excepted friends.
